The Argus Delta Extension ("the extension") is published by Argus Delta Pty Ltd. It helps journalists research court matters and prepare court document access applications from Argus Delta and NSW court lists. This policy describes what the extension does with information on your computer.
What the extension stores
The extension stores the following in your browser's local extension storage, only after you enter it:
- Your applicant details: name, organisation, email address, phone number, postal address, occupation and applicant capacity.
- Your default reasons for access applications.
- Short-lived state used to attach a generated PDF to a Gmail draft, which is deleted when the draft tab closes or the attachment completes.
This information never leaves your browser except as described below. It is not sent to Argus Delta Pty Ltd, and Argus Delta Pty Ltd cannot access it.
What the extension sends, and where
- Court and public record websites. When you run a research search, the extension sends the party name or case number you selected to Google News, ABN Lookup (abr.business.gov.au), AustLII, NSW Caselaw, the Federal Court judgments search and the Commonwealth Courts portal (comcourts.gov.au), and displays the public results. These requests are made directly from your browser to those services and are subject to their privacy policies.
- Your Gmail account. When you generate an application, the extension opens a draft in your own Gmail account addressed to the relevant court registry, with the subject, body and the generated PDF attached. Nothing is sent until you press Send yourself.
- Your computer. Generated PDFs are saved to your Downloads folder under
Court Application Forms/Generated.
The extension does not send any information to Argus Delta Pty Ltd or to any analytics, advertising or tracking service. It contains no remote code and loads no scripts from the internet.
Court list content
The extension reads court list rows on app.argusdelta.com and onlineregistry.lawlink.nsw.gov.au in order to add its research and application buttons and to prefill the application form for the row you choose. This content is processed in your browser only.
Generated documents
Application PDFs are completed with your applicant details and the matter you selected, using the official court forms bundled with the extension. You are responsible for reviewing each application and email before sending it.
Your control
- Edit or clear your applicant details at any time from the extension's toolbar popup.
- Removing the extension from Chrome deletes all data it stored.
- Generated PDFs and Gmail drafts remain under your control in your Downloads folder and Gmail account.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
